PageRank update WAS attack on paid links
Matt Cutts has confirmed that the recent PageRank update was an attack on paid links and deceptive linking schemes.

Seems that he is correct. The Yahoo directory has now got a Tb PR = 7 ( downgraded from 8 ) , while the free directory dmoz holds its position with a Tb PR of 8.
Is dmoz a better directory than the yahoo directory?
