Pages Falling Out of Main Index

I have recently noticed that pages are flling out of google's main index. Last week i had around 80 pages in the main index which was really helping to drive my organic listings. Now it's down to 49.
Anyone know why this would happen?

I know the majority of my pages are supplemental, but expect this because the site is realtibely knew, 4 months. i know the site does suffer from duplicate content, but it's very difficult to avoid with an eccomerce- any advise on this as well would be great. My web guy has done some stuff to minimise it, but not sure if it has been effective. I have been submitting articles, writing blogs etc.

Do you know much about the sources of your backlinks? One theory is that certain types of links are being devalued and this may be what has happened to your site.

BTW: I quite like the design of your site - very smart. And this is from the guy who favours uber-simplistic design
