From an SEO standpoint, parking a domain probably gives very little benefit. Parked domains usually have no incoming links and generic text, and while a search engine may index the domain, you don't really get any benefit. There is a theory that domain age (how long ago a domain was registered) matters to the search engines, but this does not seem to be a very major factor in rankings.

Typically, domain parking is used more to reserve a domain name until you are ready to create a web site. I think, however, having even a simple single page on the domain would be better than a parked page because you have the opportunity to catch people searching for your company name and at least give them your contact information.

Exclamation Re: Parked Domain

Hosting costs peanuts these days although you can't use adsense on the page you can put up some affiliate banners until your site goes live or if you're into domain prospecting, until you're able to sell the domain, you could end up making some dough regardless.

Question Re: Parked Domain

What about if you own the domain names of .com, .net, etc so that your competition cannot steal those from you, and you just have those parked on your hosting server? Is there any negative to doing things this way?

I guess I am concerned about duplicate content - if you go to my site, whether you enter .com, .net or .info, you are going to get the same domain - everything is going to be the .com info, but with the .* extension you entered. Is this hurting my rankings?

Thanks.

Yes, you would face a duplicate content issue where the search engine has to decide which domain gets weighted. I think your best bet in this case would be to have a 301 redirect from the .net and .org variations, for example, to your main site.

Question Re: Parked Domain

Thanks for the advice, but how would I do a 301 redirect? Right now, they are only parked domains...

Thanks again.

Ask your host for support or set them up yourself in the htaccess file, if the domains are set up.

Hi all my question is if there are any risks for being banned from search emngines when having 5.000 different domains with only one page with info and links to main domain.

parking your domains is a very bad idea, because the domain registrar makes the dollars and gives you the cents, so get a reseller account and host all your domains, develop content for them, even one page is enough.

Generating revenue comes later, when you can drive some traffic to your website, it is useless to put ads on your website if you do not have content / traffic.
