I have a simple tiny site (Karl Dominik) that I want to be recognized in different languages on search engines.
I have multiple stacked hidden div layers that contain the page content in the different languages. Clicking on a javascript link reveals the language of choice without reloading the page. I also have keywords set in different languages. Now my main question is how to SEO a page like this for many different languages. In particular I want to rank high on Baidu. Most of the references I see here for English SEO but Chinese is a whole different beast. Chinese is a very unique language. For instance, in searches spaces seem to have little or no effect on search terms. The search engine finds matching character combinations automatically. I am guessing this goes for keywords too. I am curious about how to structure keyword phrases as well, as I use some redundancy in English keywords that might not be necessary in Chinese. Some of the pages which I found useful: Language information and text direction Language Codes

If you want to be listed in Baidu you can go to their site and just like Yahoo, pay a fee and you are listed instantly - in whatever language.

Baidu spiders webpages too, so I know I will get on through that way.
Any my main reason for posting is I wanted to know how are the rules different for a language other than English? Where would I find such information?

Since Baidu seems to be the Chinese directory of choice, maybe you can find out all you need by asking them.
Just email the people at Baidu and maybe they can advise you. |
