I am new to this online marketing and have no idea of search engine optimization. I reached this far by following links and links. It was like swimming hundred miles into an open sea and still not getting a hope to reach the shores.
Can someone give step by step guideline how to increase my page rank on Google and when someone search for "man with van hire" - my website should some on top at Google search.
This will not only help me, but thousands of those who are still struggling to get their site to be useful.

When you are in a web directory you must look for a "Add a site" o something similar function to add your site then simply follow the instructions.

Usually you should go to the page you want to add your link (navigate trough categories and subcategories). Then you must see "add a link", "add a site" or something similar.

You can see one option on your sites tool bar, "Page Rank" option .You just klick it ,then u will get three option ,of them u click on "Cached Snapshot of Page" U can see when your site was crawled & which page was crawled.

Hey Andy,

You can get started with Dmoz and then major directory submission sites as Yahoo and MSN. I hope this helps.

I had a problem recently. I have submitted to hundreds of web directories and put links to some of them on my site, either reciprocal or just because I liked them. I submitted to a relevant web ring and got an e-mail saying I link to porn sites, weight loss sites and gambling so they would not accept me. These directories have thousands of listings. Am I supposed to avoid any with adult sites or gambling? Are these people just puritanical. I'm not into porn but what others do is not my business. I would like some feedback as to weather this can this hurt a sites credibility?

What you heard were statements of some wannabe experts SEOs, but who are very popular, because they have people working for them for free, writing and posting articles on their web sites.

That said, those claims are pure BS.

The "real" bonus is that is a WordPress powered web directory which means:

1. Each link will be on its own page, so no juice sharing (i.e. 50 links per page as in other directories). The pages have meta tags (description and keywords) that match the business description (not possible when you have 50 links per page), so that's a plus for SEO.

2. The pages (and the links) are indexed in max 24h as Google and the rest of the search engines see OnlineProfs.com as a ... blog, and we all know that blog posts are usually indexed faster.


p.s. it's sort of a bump reply but i'm wondering why people don't like free, no reciprocal needed, one link per page, blog-like opportunities? could it be the lack of exposure?

She's Right in some cases , because now a days every second directory Become link forms So google don't give much attention to directories now a days ...

Well its not totally True , if your getting some good back link from google friendly Directories Then it gonna help your site not gonna make any bad effect ... like yahoo directory and dmoz directories gonna improve Your site ...

@Topic .. don't waste much time on Directory submission ... its gonna give you some back links but not gonna help you to improve your serp ( i mean it did but just lil bit )

No, I mean that when building your IBLs, don't look only at high PR websites/webpages. Even IBLs from low PR pages are good to have because in the end a link is a link and every link counts.
