Hi All, I want to just know your comments on alexa ranking. My question is "How I can increase my alexa ranking" ?

Please describe all the factors which may be helpful to increasing my alexa ranks?

Alexa ranking just measures how many people visit your site with the Alexa toolbar installed. It's actually ridiculously easy to manipulate - which is why most people that know much about it, don't really put much stock into it.

At any rate, to make a move in Alexa rating just have everyone you know install the toolbar and start visiting your site every day. Simple as that. It doesn't really have anythign at all to do with how 'good' your site is, the quality of your content or the efficiency of your SEO efforts. To the best of my knowledge it also has absoultely nothing to do with any of your search engine positioning either.

As such, the question about Alexa rank isn't so much about how you get it, but really more about why you should care. If anyone figures that one out, do let me know.

You sure have hit the nail on the head Mike. That little tool bar thing isn't a bad sales pitch though for Alexa, but I just can't really figure out what they're all about.

No offense... but the only thing that matters less than the Google PageRank bar is the Alexa rankings...

There used to be a javascript code to make it look like EVERY visitor had Alexa Toolbar installed...

The only time it would be beneficial to you is if you were trying to sell your site to someone that didn't know any better...

If you (and everyone you know) are using Firefox then the add-on from SearchStatus | Firefox SEO Toolbar Extension (which has some great features other than the alexa bit) will affect the Alexa rankings a wee bit and may allow you to earn another 10 cents per month from TLA.

But I still agree Alexa rankings are a load of rubbish....

Awkward?? Their rankinds are completely inaccurate.

Alexa rankings would only be accurate if every web user had their toolbar installed.

so how come so many people rely on Alexa, even though the results come from alexa toolbar users it is still a measurment tool

Again, it may increase your TLA ads by .10 a month as Jordan said... but it's still useless... here's a thought...

Since Alexa Rankings are determined by people visiting your site w/ the Alexa Toolbar installed... (And since you have no way of knowing who has that tool bar installed)

Why not just try to increase your overall traffic? More visitors = more chances that someone with the Alexa tool bar will visit!

I can't remember the last time the Alexa tool bar had a direct effect on my paycheck

I still do not understand why people want to increase there Alexa rank. There is nothing to be gained from it.

Since last one year I havn't yet seen any improvement in alexa ranking for my sites. It is more or less showing no major fluctuations in their ranking report. So assumning that constant number of webuser using alexa toolbar, as a result giving a constant number. Then why do people sell their alexa ranking?

You already got an answer previously in the thread. Why are you asking again? Do you know that you are getting in every thread very annoying trying to draw attention to that weird tool in your signature?
