Don't misinterpret the title for god sake…

I am talking about back links…

Recently I got in touch with a SEO company and I got shocked to see their way of working. They help clients get huge backlinks from different sites which are often not at all related to clients’ sites. I am sure you all will consider this as a bad strategy.

But this event triggered one question in my mind. My blog got few backlinks from some blogs through technorati and mybloglog. These are good blogs, but not at all related to my topic. So is it bad for my blog's health?

If not, then why we do not like such backlinks for web sites?

Dont think it is bad for your blogs "health" just think it wont help your blog rank as much as if the links were on relevant websites.

it will just dont help if you get irrelevant IBL's. The reason is, my competitor can buy 5000, 10000 irrelevant back links and point to my site. Will i get punished by search engines?? NO. they will just IGNORE irrelevant links and credit me with relevant one.

I don't know. I think regardless of content I'd like to have a link on like, Perez hilton's blog.
