Default SEO Question metatags

Hello all,

Here is my question.

I have a client who is losing placements for the primary and broadest keyword for the site.

I examined the metatags and found this:
<META NAME="GENERATOR" CONTENT="Mexico vacation rental lodging Zihuatanejo Ixtapa holiday

With nothing else but a title tag.

Interestingly, The site has page 1 placements in google for some of the more narrow search terms.

I am going to change the metatags back to something more standard. But I was wondering if anyone had ever seen something like this and had any opinions on how such a metatag structure could possibly be even be placing anywhere on Google or any other major Search Engine.

thanks,

Any opinions are appreciated.

Yeah looks like general keyword stuffing. I would agree, switch them back.

Yes, it's definitely "keyword stuffing". There's no way that the page where that appears is about all of those things mentioned in the meta tags. It would have to a be a huge page.

I prefer add a good title tag and a good meta description tag. You could add a meta keywords tag that includes some of the more important keywords on the page, but that's about it.
