Default Advantages / Disadvantages of growing indexability

There are two websites with guest reviews and both of them highly ranked on Google.
The website no1 has 20,000 indexed pages where the web no2 (ranked first on Google) has a 100,000 indexed pages (70% of them are guest reviews).
Each review is saved automatically as a separate html page. You see a list of reviews under hotel listing but Google sees them as separate pages.
In this way, the number of pages for website no2 grows about 3000 pages per month (daily 100 new reviews) so they can increase their indexability and visibility on SE.

Is there any SEO advantage of this “system” except growing number of indexed pages? Maybe some disadvantages ?

I think this case is slightly different because all pages are within the same domain name. And what is worse this website is ranked no1 on Google for many phrases.

Duplicate content is not penalized, it is filtered from ranking well in the SERPs.

Having more pages on your site does not make you rank higher.

OK I agree, more pages don't mean higher ranking. But is there any disadvantage of system used by web no2? I can't find any as duplicated content is filtered and not penalized.

I dont understand the question. Their are no advantages in having more pages. It is not about throwing as much at the wall as possible and seeing what sticks.

Build as mnay pages as you have content for.

What can happen having more pages than you really need is, that your PageRank will be shared with more pages, and your page ranking can bleed.
