Default Poor performance from website - Help

Hi
One of our websites www.direct2cyprus.co.uk is not performing well and although it has been live for over a year now has shown no inprovement in hits or visitors. In January we loaded a lot of new content, but I am bemused that there has been no effect (good or bad) during or since that period. The robots from Google and all other major search engines visit the site every day.
Sometimes you are too close to the problem and I just wondered if there is some kind soul out there who can point me in the right direction as to what is wrong as I am new to SEO :)

You have very few backlinks. You need to concentrate on getting some. Here is a great resource:

On the fly what I noticed:

You are spamming with your meta tags and you have high keyword density and repetition. You also have a horrible markup (51 errors) and your semantical structure is weak.

Many thanks for your reply, I agree we are a bit short in incoming links. Just one additional question though, should I be looking for a few quality links from well ranked pages or are all links rated the same and does having links from poorly ranked pages have a detrimental effect on a page's ranking - sorry, that's 2 questions !! :)

Hi - many thanks for your comments. I have just run the page via W3C and it has only come back with 6 very minor anomalies. What are you using to detect the other errors?
I have checked our main opposition for keywords such as "Cyprus Property" and they have in the main a higher concentration of that specific keyword, so I thought we would be OK - I'm open to pursuasion but taking into account that we should probably have more textural content on the page what more do you suggest? :)

You website has only 7 pages in google and 18 including all others. You need to add more pages.

Keyword density is too much.

Take a page, focus on one keyword, use second page to focus other keyword. Right now you are repeating almost same keywords every where.

More links need to be gathered from some site regarding cyprus property or related.

All links are not created equal. But getting links from a site that does not rank well will not hurt you.

Is your plan to make money off Google AdSense or by selling property?

Many thanks for answering that question. The aim of the website is to sell property in Cyprus, however we were wondering whether incorporating adsense into the site would improve it's visibility. I'm afraid we were clutching at straws !! :)

AdSense will hurt a real site not help it. AdWords will help it.

Many thanks for your comments,I think you may have something there.
There are quite a few pages on the website that are not yet recognised by Google or the other search engines. We have put around 40 new property developments on the website in Jan and Feb and each is a seperate page. However, these are not recognised by google as yet despite us having a google and yahoo sitemap on the site. Is it worth submitting individual pages or is their a problem with our sitemap? :)

Just realised that we have been very Google oriented and obviously yahoo or other search engines would not want to promote a website that has google ads on it's bage. Mant thanks for the tip, we will remove the adsense asap :)

Making money off the adsense, though welcome, would be a very minor aspect of what the website is all about - ie selling property in Cyprus :)

There is no "Instant Karma" anymore.

There are no more "FREE" games and they all take time and persistance.
