"Main features of Web 2.0"?? It is not a software. It is a concept.

When users of the internet contribute to blogs, forums, etc with their own content it is form of Web 2.0. When internet users interact with websites in real time, it is Web 2.0. Here is a great video that really shows the progress from "Web 1.0" to Web 2.0:

Yes, may be if you read on forums like WMW, that may be your definition of Web 2.0.

I make my own and will concentrate around these topics:
  1. Communities. Web 2.0 links people.
  2. Tchnologies. Web Services and more advanced webapplications made available through the new DOM model and the XMLHttpRequest object, e.g. via extended Java Script, also called AJAX. XML and Xtechnologies, like XPath, XMath, XLink, XPoint are important.
  3. Browsers. At present there is only one according to my requirements for accessibility and usability, Opera 9.1. Related WPW thread: Modern webbrowsers, accessibility and usability.
  4. Digital logistics, information, communication and datalogistics. This point is related to point 2 and 3, but deserves its own. KW's are increased speed, bandwidth, security and anything over IP, phone, messengers, piano education in real time etc.
  5. Websites. Strict separation of content, style (CSS or similar technology) and code. Web 2.0 websites makes life easier for the SE Bots because of this separation. Mark up, valid according to the latest standards. Web 2.0 sites are accessible, user friendly and can be used on mobile devices. The most advanced can be used by screen readers, so blind people can surf them. For additional information: see my first post.
  6. Marketing: Example: AJAX and SEO.

Kjel I was just throwing a few ideas out there. Web 2.0 is very hard to define. I feel Web 2.0 is a very fluid concept and is ever changing. I like your points as well.

And the video was great, interactivity.

Let us say a Web1.0 site / page is a simple HTML ad page made for a company selling physical goods or services.

I made such a simple ad page for a friend in a few hours. I said it was made in a hurry, and had to be paid if I should make a better one. Note though that the telephone number is on almost every page.

He is so satisfied with the traffic it brings that I have not heard more from him. It has an online pricelist that saves much time for him. As you see, he rents car and car equipment.

That is a typical Web1.0 page in my view. Pages like this will most probably live in the future. If you make an onlie customer service, a logistic system where the customer can serve himself, better styling etc, the images compressed (that is no my niche) etc. etc. it will come closer to a Web2.0 page as I have defined it above. So in a sense Web2.0 is a hype that may scare some small companies from going online. In another way it is real as explained above, especially when it comes to, communities, social networking, digital logistics, web services and web applications. IMO we have just seen the start.
