I need you guys to help me with a problem. There is a company I work with that is trying to implement SEO tools with their website template product. One of the tools they are using is a script that generates keyword phrases throughout a page's content.
The problem is with the script. It only implements the keywords as one phrase, ex. "these are the keywords I selected", and then auto-generates that same phrase throughout the text content on the page. [For example: paragraph 1: blah blah. blah "these are the keywords I selected". blah blah blah. paragraph 2: blah blah blah blah. blah blah blah "these are the keywords I selected" blah. blah blah blah. paragraph 3: blah "these are the keywords I selected" blah blah blah blah blah. blah blah blah blah. blah blah "these are the keywords I selected" blah. and so on with the other paragraphs on the page] Position of the keywords in the string never changes. And the same string is just repeated over and over. To compound matters, one auto-generated page repeats the same string of keywords 13 times on the same page! The problem with the above has been explained to them by people like myself, but they refuse to see what is wrong with this type of page content. They have also been convinced to believe that the above procedure will actually HELP with the website's SERP rankings! Keep in mind that they have paid a good amount of cash for this "SEO tool," and they are actually being told to use this tool by a "professional SEO" (ha!)! So I'm imploring all of you to please comment on the above, and in a nutshell, explain what is wrong with the strategy. I really need an objective viewpoint and plan to show them the actual responses to this thread. So please...comment away! |

Why even bather? If the client likes it, let him have it. If they have decided
that the program they bought is the best you can stand there screaming all day long, and they will never like you again. They asked you for help to do the job, not to criticise their decisions. Let them have it and find out themselves if its not working, that's my advise. And you will be paid twice when the ask you to make it work again.. Ciao Haze www.activemarbella.com |

Is the problem the fact that the keywords are generated or the fact that they are repeated to many times on the page?
If the keywords are only mentioned once or twice on the page I personally think this could help if.... The title of the page is also generated in the same manner. The Page description is generated in the same way Keywords meta are generated in the same way Alt tags............ Everything about that given page would then become relevant for that key phrase. Obviously the balance and number of times it is used would have to be considered carefully within the page so that it is not spammed like it sounded in the above example. Im interested to hear other views as we will be using a similar method on our new site. We will have a standard piece of text at the top of our product pages which will say something along the lines of "An online jewelry website for wholesale body jewelry, costume jewellery and body piercings. Purchase our Wholesale Beaded Fashion Necklaces Online from our online shop today at factory prices, with immediate shipping around the world starting from just US$ 2.95." The words highlighted above will be automatically generated from our database Product Catagory. So if someone visits our "Fashion Necklace" catagory the above words would read Fashion Necklace. The page title would read something like "Fashion Necklace, by Body Jewelry Shopping direct from Asia at discount wholesale factory prices" Interested to hear what others think as I believe as long as it is not spammed then it could be a winner if done properly. |

Why arent they just writing good content? This is basically keyword stuffing spam and shouldn't even be indexed.
I would not even deal with these people. |
