Default Finding the Answers

Months ago, before my website was published, and before I learned about SEO and page ranking, I had checked out the sites of those vendors who I considered to be my stiffest competition. Using my main search terms, the results I got gave me a general idea of how they ranked. Now, post-Florida, I see that a few of the lower ranked sites have jumped up to the top, and other very popular and well-established businesses can hardly be found.

I have been carefully comparing the two groups for content, 2) links, and 3) source code.

Here is what I have found about the currently top- ranked sites: they are rich in content, have a lot of internal links scattered within their informative text to other pages within the site, and their reciprocal links are upwards of 200. Their source code includes a lot of relevant identifiers, particular in their titles.

I can't say that this combination of characteristics is the magic answer, for I have no way of knowing if the #1-#10 ranked sites are using a pay-per-click marketing scheme or not. I think it pays to spend some time evaluating your competition, and then take a good look at your site. You may then decide to add more content and reciprocal links, if needed. SEO and page ranking are vital to anyone hoping to successfully sell their products or services on the internet.
