OK folks, so many of you have been helpful over the years that I've been here that I thought that I'd give back to the community.
Here's my tip for today: If you have a blog like me and want to get your site crawled quickly and get your blog "jump started" then join in the traffic jam and create a link back to that post...the site is a PR7 now and is a great link to have to your site. By getting a popular blog site to link to you (they do this every Friday from what I can tell), you will get your site crawled quickly and it might start ranking better than it did before. You'll also have some traffic to your site, as well. This is not my blog, but it's a good way to get your site crawled and "jump started". By the way, I've started a search engine marketing traffic jam so if you'd like a link from my blog you can link back to that post and you will get a link right from me immediately.

Would this be useful for UK sites?

Why would it not be useful for UK sites? It's a link from a popular blog?
It's useful for other blog sites because a trackback is required.

By the way, I'm talking about getting a link from this site and the posts he makes every Friday, not about my own blog.
A link from here is useful if your site is on-topic, which doesn't necessarily have to be from a US-based site/blog. I would suspect that if you're from the UK the link would be good, too. ;)

Newbee here!
First posting for me on this great forum and a big thank you to all the advice you all give; it's the one newsletter I look forward to receiving. It's also me unashamedly taking your advice and creating a link to my new SEO experiment. Apologies for the crudity of my submission - I hope to make some valuable contributions in the future. I might be missing something obvious here - but I can't for the life of me work out what I'm supposed to do with that site!
Can anyone explain? thanks |

If you have a blog, then make a link from one of your blog posts to that page: then when you update your blog post send a trackback to that page. Your blog software should be able to send a trackback.
Generally, this is only useful for sites that have blogs (which is one reason to put a blog on your site, even if you've got an ecommerce site or other type of site).

Is anyone here denying that a well placed link to a new site from a developers high ranking and well spidered "Portfolio" page gets a new site spidered within 24hrs by several SEs usually?
If you are, pick up your "walking stick" and let's take a walk. Ken |
