Default Is it an error or not?

Dear friends,

Can spiders distinguish between an h1 in the banner and one in the content section? Or can we have two H1 tags on the same page?

Thanks a lot in advance for your time.

Kindly, Michael.

H1 speaks about the main subject of the page. So, its always better to use H1 one time in page.

You can define the secondary headings using H2, H3 so on...

Default H! tag?

Thanks, Amar, for your prompt answer.

What if the writing is on the banner declared as H1, is it still a conflict for the spiders to have H1 in a body?

Thank you.

Warmly,

Michael.

What exactly you mean banner declared as H1 ?
Are you trying to give H1 to a banner image ?

By banner are you referring to your header or logo? Anything that is visible on the screen is part of the body -- so any h1 that is visible on the page will be spidered.

You should only have one h1 on your page.

Is it a banner or header text?

Banner will be in image format ?
Header text will be in the text format ?

If you can give us the exact URL, we can give you better suggestions..

I believe you are referring to the Christian Science Healing Website in your signature. You posted for a review on the review the other day. I actually started a review the other day, but something came up and I had to stop.

Anyway -- on that site you have an h1 tag (Healing Prayer) in your "header image" or "logo" -- whatever you want to call it. This is a text h1, that is located on a background image but is not part of it. It will be seen by spiders.

You then have an h2 tag (Christian Science Healing).

Are you thinking about makeing that h2 and h1? I would recommend that you do not do it. I really don't know what impact having two h1 tags would be -- I do know that it is not recommended.

From your meta tags on the home page it appears that you feel that "Christian Science Healing" is an important keyword phrase. If that is so I would recommend modifiying your header image it include that text as part of the image. Then you have your h1 tag to use in your content.

I still plan on finishing the review of your site -- not sure if I will have time this morning.

Hope this is helpful.
