Default SEO & Validation Of HTML Codes

I want to know how important the validation of codes as far as SEO is concerned.

I checked some top SEs at www.validator.w3.org and only msn has passed the validation. Google has 66 errors. Alexa has 102 errors. aol has 166 errors.

Thanks

1) Validation is for your website, not theirs

2) Validation does not directly affect SEO. The reason why you want your code to validate, amongst other things, is it reduces the chances for error while being parsed by the search engines. But just because your code validates doesn't mean you will rank better. That is just a misunderstanding.

Thanks stymee for your reply. I have a math help site. www.mathsupporter.com .It failed the html validation. But no viewing problem in Firefox and IE.

I am using a software for editing my pages. So, It is very difficult for me to correct each and every pages. Should I clear these codes as long as my site has no viewing pbroblem?

Thanks

I put some efforts on making my sites XHTML 1.0 compliant, mainly because reduces issues with browsers and robots and makes maintenance easier.

Is like living in a house and keeping it tidy, it takes some effort, but over time, it is more difficult to lose things there.

Regards
Javier
