Default Sites with same content !

Hi All

I need some strategy that could be implemented for two sites which are having same content.

Moreover both sites are ranking well.

What should be done to maintain both the sites without being penalised by GOOGLE for duplication of content?

All comments are highly appreciated.

Warm Regards
Tushar

Combine them. Eventually 1 will only rank anyways and that is if your lucky.

Thanks

But both the sites have to be maintained due to some reason. So I need a solution as to how to maintain the integrity of both the sites.

If you have to maintain 2 websites with both the same content then consider blocking one with your robots.txt file. Otherwise the SE's will pick one to rank themselves, lower the rank of the other...eventually.

Hi Tushar,

I can't give any definite advice, all I can say is that I've been interested in this myself as we have two sites which are identical - halcyonholidaycottages.co.uk and halcyonholidays.com.

For marketing reasons we need them both running. Not sure if our position in the search engine results pages has been affected due to this, although we seem to do okay for our targetted keywords.

Regards,
Darren.

If you host the 2 websites in different accounts and thus from different IP, there shall be no problem. I saw many USA hotels have 2 websites with complete same content but different domain. But one ranks well, another can't be found in google SERPs.
