Default Post your best social network

I know I can use Google or any other search engine to find it. But, heck, we all know that human beings are the best to assist, because they have real brain (especially the members of this forum).

That's why I need your help and competence.

What is your favourite/best/most lovely social network?

That can be social bookmarks network, or some good info sharing network, or typical social network - doesn't matter. Just post it and if you have few seconds to spare please explain why you adore it.

Thanks, WPW people!

My favourite Social Network - www.ozsports.info
Why? Because it is doing something that no one else has attempted (and succeeding).
Currently operational in Australia, this privately owned organization is providing a National Solution to every communities problems, ergo, Where to you find local information like clubs, school, activities, business, forums, etc,?
Usually, this sort of information is scattered all over the place, but Ozsports.info has built a Central community information portal, and have done it for every town, suburb and village across Australia.
And it gets better -- they have built it to actively challenge the "big business" that control how much people have to spend on the net to get the club/community/business noticed.
All in all, they are giving power back to the people, and I can see this site expanding their reach into other countries, (possibly by "exclusive rights" arrangements???) in the near future.

I'm a big fan of Helloworld which is fully integrated with streaming video. I personally use it as a multimedia "Toolbox" to promote my music - a lot of really cool features you just can't get anywhere else. Some users are creating their own live online interactive TV shows with this.
Last week I watched a live webcast from the US (I'm in Australia) and was able to interact with the presenters in realtime which was amazing.

Ekstreme's Socializer is a great way to put up social bookmarks quickly and easily (after you open accounts with the 47 different SB sites affiliated with the Socializer). Make that 46, Digg is out. Great product, though.

the only one i've gotten involved in is http://zaadz.com/ -- i like it because, even though its mission of "changing the world" may come across as a little pompous ... and even though the biggest change some of the members may be making is a change in their brand of gourmet coffee ... there are actually quite a number of people taking meaningful and tangible steps toward that goal...!

my page there is http://source-energy.zaadz.com/

Default Best Social Network - CaffeineLounge.com

http://www.caffeinelounge.com

ok, so I created it.... that's why I like it. actually, I've moved on to other projects, and never really got a chance to market the thing. I think I started it in 2003 ish - learning PhP and MySQL as I built it.. it's gone through 3 name changes, clickromance.com (original conception as a dating only site), to imeetup.com (possible issues with meetup.com), to caffeinelounge.com - It's never really ever been "finished" per say, and could probably use an overhaul with some new AJAX scripts that I've been writing. I've got a dating portal idea if anyone is interested? it's totally a new idea, never been done.. probably bring a lot of national attention :) - ok, I"m sure you've never heard that one before, but I think so anyway.

Default Social Networks

Although the question began as a query about your favorite social networks, I would like to pose several related questions, "Why are you/people really drawn to such websites? How much real time is spent on your favorite on a daily/weekly/monthly basis? What underlies the basic human need to have such websites? Have we forgotten how to interrelate to real, live human beings and find social networking a suitable substitute?" Any response would be welcome.

Peace,
Calius

My favorite and most beneficial to my business is Active Rain. It is a community of real estate related professionals who really support each other, generously share their knowledge. It is not a waste of time but it is addicting because it works on the point system so the more points you earn the more exposure you have in your field. If you are in the real estate industry then check it out. If it suits you, join with the link below and I will get points. Thank you in advance and I hope to see you in the rain!

I'll vote for http://www.MyArtProfile.com/ . Its new but looks great and targets a niche (in this case visual artists). Someone recently described Myspace as "just AOL 2.0". I thought this was a good analogy.

I like the Ryze network also for business networking but if you are intersted in promoting yourself, I don't think there is better than MySpace at the moment in terms of global market exposure.

I like NewArtistsNetwork.com because they combine mainstream media with indi news and reviews. You can also create a free profile, and its geared towards the entertainment industry. Usually you have to pay for that type of profile, but NAN's is free.

I vote for www.linkedin.com and www.ryze.com networks - these are a good way to associate with professionals in your field, find ex-colleagues or ex-schoolmates and establish business connections.

Yahoo's www.flickr.com is great for sharing yous photos, so I vote for this one, too.

I really like Squidoo too. They are really easy to create and provide link juice to a site. We are still kind of experimenting with them, but already got ranked #1 on yahoo for their #1 keyword for one lens we created for a client just a few days after making it.

Well let's see...

First real social networking site I participated in was Friendster. I jumped on that a few years ago. I actually know the guy that created it and he has long since sold it, but I still have some peeps on there...

Then, of course, there is MySpace which I only marginally got into. And Squidoo, which is my current favorite.

For video I like Revver because of the 50/50 revenue sharing. Metacafe gives your vids the most exposure though. And, Ning; which lets you create your own social networking website. You can even take Ning a step further by signing up for an API key; meaning you can add their social networking capabilities to you website for free.

Yeah, I been with Orkut and met my all ex students too, but I feel the scraps are just scraps and insecure reveals by some, esp below 18s. Moreover, Orkut profiles have more than 2000+ friends and high number of scraps - Is this called social networking or into competition who's got more friends in list? Google Orkut needs to think deeper in this. My Space, at least has music n talents to show and yeah, partnered with Sentinel. Linkedin builds contacts n biz.well, all social networking regularities stand for few months and than stranger friends are gone...whatever...
