Where can we submit sitemaps for Yahoo and MSN? I submitted my sitemaps.xml files to Google via the Webmaster Tools console, but not sure where this is done for the others.

If you have 1200 pages but your sitemaps file only shows 85, it is probably because your sitemaps generator is filtering out duplicates, if your site is a blog.

You should not have more than 500 pages in your sitemap, otherwise you should have a sitemap-index.

A already said above that if you have more than 500 pages you should split the sitemap to max. 500 each.

Thank you webnauts,but I don't know how to split the sitemap ,you mean I must set up 2 or 3 sitemaps and each sitemap have 500 URL list ?

The Google limits for XML site maps are either 50,000 pages per sitemap or a size above 10 MB. Larger than that and you have to create and index sitemap which points to your other sitemaps, below that no need to bother.

most of the websites also experiencing this, and it is normal that google did not show all the indexed pages of your site.

submitting the sitemap does not guarantee indexing.

indexing depends on how many links google finds to your internal pages among other things.

blogspots don't have sitemap.xml
they have /feeds/posts/default

is that gonna work in MSN (I mean Bing) and yahoo?

I dunno about that... well if you're talking about a hosted website with a wordpress blog or a static website, then I guess you're correct.

I started with using ONLY blogspot blogs and as soon as I added a /feeds/posts/default to webmaster tools I got indexed.

I've got over 50 blogspot blogs... for the longest time I didn't need a hosted website to make my clients money.
small businesses can get by with a blogspot alone and outrank thier competitors

It could only validate XML if the namespace existed, but it does not. I followed their wish, submitted to Google, and the result was ok.

Do you have to have all links to your pages within your main page before you can get all pages listed in your sitemap. It looks like the program I am using to generate the site map behaves so. Can anyone pls suggest a free good program?
