Redirecting URL

Hi Members,

I want some information about,Redirecting URL..... does redirecting URL has a role to play in the rank of the website in the search engine listings.

Say for example, if there are many inbound links to a website, of which some are of redirecting nature then what effect does it has on the ranking?
