Google Page Titles

Hi,

I've heard that Google only reads page titles up to 63 characters. Does it just not read what is over the 63, or are you punished for writing over 63?

I would recommend keeping them under that total, but I write them longer than that if it makes sense for my end users. Worry about them and not the search engines.

I also feel that you are not penalized for having longer titles.

We have a tendency to write some longer titles and haven't noticed a penalty. It seems that FF shows longer titles than IE, though I never counted the characters.

Sure I want them to work in the SE, but more important, I want it to make sense to my readers.
