Default Please help a newbie with linking questions

Hello guys, I'm a newbie to the linking/seo world. I have a few questions that hopefully you can help with.

1. I am just starting to build up my links page. I'm not sure if I should target related link partners, or go for them all. I have looked at many others links pages and it seems like their going for them all, for the most part. Can this help or hurt?

2. Also, is there a minimum pr# I should avoid? Will adding pr1's hurt me?

3. Regarding anchor text, I would imagine I should change this up for different keywords I want to target. How many links should I get per keyword/anchor text? And should I have that anchor text linked to my home page or linked to a seo'ed page for the same keyword? Which would get my higher SE rankings?
Thank you.

The links should be to sites that have relevant content to your site.

It is up to you. But don't-over-do it.[/quote]

You can link to any page of your site which is relevant. Deeper can be better. It is up to you.

By the way what do you mean with SEO'ed page?

I mean, I have some pages that are optimized for a specific keyword, relevant to that page. I am trying to get those pages higher ranked. My concern was, will I acheive better results linking to those pages, or should I just link to the index page.

You mean not sure or just no?

Also, what if I do focus on revelant linking partners, but also add none revelant sites, will that hurt me?
Thank you.

It will not hurt you. And stop thinking about the PR toolbar please. Concentrate on creating high quality content (keyword rich, but not too rich), and then sit back and watch what will happen.

It will hurt you. If you think you must link to them, you can use the rel="nofollow" in your links code, like e.g. but only if they don't mind.

Deep linking is better from a SEO view. Why? Because, if you only link to your home page, it does not look natural to the engines.

Be sure to get links to your internal pages and the engines will see this as more natural.
