101 Ways to Build Link Popularity in 2006 by Aaron Wall
I am sure there has been some threads at WPW on the recent IBL blog posting by SEOBook Aaron Wall. He posted this back in August 15th, but I wanted to start individual thread on its own. Obviously since IBL's are pretty much the "trump card" in SEO (as Aaron calls) it we should all have own favorite ways to get IBLs. What do you feel are the best or highlights from this list? Here are mine: 1. Personally I am still hooked on submitting to social networks. I try to get most all my clients and websites started in bloging and then submitting each and every posts to the various social networks. This usually is a great way to "get the word out" on your personal or business blog. 2. Getting links from old established websites. This is never stressed enough because most of the websites you generally can get a link from the fastest are from younger websites that are less established. Spend the extra dime/time and get those more established links from related websites, it is well worth it. 3. Offer free advice and give always. The more you help the community with free advice, software, whatever, the more likely that free, one-way back link will happen. 4. Bottomline be the best at what you do. Be the cheapest, whatever setting yourself apart from the rest of the websites that are chasing that same customer as you are is the best one to get noticed and get those valuable backlinks. Look foward to what the fellow WPW have to offer... |

Good feedback manta. Yes some of the tips seems a little "wacky" to me to.
I have always said the more info you give to the internet the more you truly get back, in the way of IBL's. The internet was developed to exchange information freely and if you follow that same concept on your website you will head straight to the top much faster than you could scheming your way to it. |

It is not simply a case any longer of simply having IBL's that link to your main site. As nice as that is it really now pays to highlight a keyword or more than one in those Directory submissions - Old advice I hear some of you say. Well No actually, if you are creating new pages and new topics then it really pays to keep submitting with the new keywords even to Directories/ News Items that already list you.
Here is what I mean. On Google we have been busy optimising a new keyword 'Keyworker Mortgages'Google UK has now listed us on pages 1, 2 and 3 with individual Directory entries and Forum posts based on the new keyword. All in just 2 weeks. |
