Default criticise my site

Hi people, i have just freshened up our current company Website.
Im not very advanced on website design, or SEO, but know a little about the basics, enough to just about get my by.

Im after some constructive criticism (sp).

Ive played about with keywords over the last few months with our old site, and just aimed for a particular phrase which was "control panel manufacturers" and managed to get that to 4th Place in google, and no1 in some of the smaller websites Ask, Yahoo and fairly high on MSN

the website is http://www.bridgesltd.co.uk

As i said, any comments/suggestions towards the website and also SEO would be greatly appreciated.

Adam

It doesn't work properly in Firefox thereby alienating potentially 10% of your audience

Your homepage content is a bit sparse. those list items could link through to further info.

Could do with some sort of call to action

The Gallery is good. Maybe expand a little more. If you can get some video on there it might help. One of our client sites is forklift truck related and they put video of fork lifts on it. It gets a reasonable amount of traffic related to that. There's allsorts in this world y'know.

thanks for your quick response.

I know about the firefox issue, and unfortunatly, i dont know enough to get around that :(

What do you mean "call to action"?

Video sounds like a good idea, just need to think of something to video now!

By call to action I mean an encouragement to do something NOW! so maybe a button or a prominent line of text along the lines of

"For more information about opur sexy control panels.."

or

"Fill in this form and someone will call you back"

etc. If yor potential client sees something they like, encourage them to get in touch and make it easy while it is still on their mind.

I'm not a coder myself so I cant help you with the Firefox issue but I'm sure one of the clever chaps on here will be able to help.

A clean site with succinct pages BUT, BUT ...
where is the Unique Selling Proposition -- the one compelling reason for prospective customers to call you instead of your competitors?
The absolute key to a successful web presence is to have a site that stands out from the crowd, that says what no one else is saying (or says it better than anyone else does), that, in effect, follows the AIDA formula (you got a problem, we got the answer, here are all the features and benefits of it, so call us).
