Default Is Google figuring RSS feeds into their formula?

Would I benefit in Google's magic formula if I added an RSS feed to my site? Do you think they are giving extra points to sites that syndicate their content?

What type of content? Also do you add content on a regular basis?

My site is entirely a static site with content added on an almost regular basis. But I was thinking that if google does give extra credit for offering an RSS feed, I could spend some extra time finding a way to come up with more content to syndicate.

I wouldn't add an RSS Feed just because you think Google might give you extra credit for it. That just doesn't make sense.

RSS Feeds Can be used for blogs, news sites, forums, anything that updates on a very regular basis.

If you write good quality, unique content/articles frequently, I would say by all means, yes have an RSS feed, (the search engines will follow anyway). But if you are just going to reshuffle roughly the same copy now and then to keep the search engines sweet, then I would say no.

I don't think I'll add one then. But just for curiosity's sake, is it a variable in their formula?

lukkyjay:

I seriously doubt that just having an RSS Feed makes a difference in PR or SERP. It is much more likely that a combination of other things do though including: frequent fresh content, most likely more visitors, the longer average time a visitor spends there etc...

The primary factor there would have to be the frequent fresh content..., even on a static site.

Saying that though, there is almost no reason to go without a RSS feed if in fact you generate enough fresh content that someone may find valuable.

Google knows how much time somebody stays on my site?

May be RSS Feed Guide may help you.

Find more RSS links navigating my site: I can explain.

1. Click on the link DigitalPunkt in my signature.

2. On that site, click on the link DinITside.

Along the right edge, you find some links under the heading:

"RSS og relaterte" (RSS and related)

3. You are back to DigitalPunkt by clicking "Start" on the toolbar.

4. You are back to WPW by closing that window.
