Default Outbound Links Help SEO

I posted quite a while ago in regards to placing OBL on our pages to help our SEO. At the time a lot of the responses suggested it doesnt help.

I have seen in the marketing thread that Ken mentions OBL in regards to WPW.

In Internet Business Promoter reports they mention them.

Do OBL to high ranking sites now help SEO?

Nope. They still don't help and probably never will.

Of course they help, even if SEO is a debated reason for having OBL's then it makes your site a more complete and user friendly vechicle and personally I think they do NOW not 12 months ago, but now good quality OBL's are extremely useful.

Hi Steven1976a,

Don't be affraid to link out to quality related resources, I am going to mention some Aaron Wall's advice to the respect:

1. Linking out to quality, related sites makes your site look like more natural part of the web. It is believed that some SE factor outbound links into their ranking algorithms.

2. It gives your users useful information, if you give them good resources, your website will be associated with good information, and many of them will remember where it came from.

3. Your visitors will be more inclined to link to your site if you provide good information and resources.

4. People who you link to may end up returning you the favor and link back to you.

Good resources to link to: wikipedia, .edu, .gov, any site consider authorities in their subject.

Remember is all about the capacity of your website of giving out good, relevant, updated, quality information, so yes linking out to quality related sources will help you boost your rankings in SE in the long run.
