Default SEO tools: SEODOC and others

This is a two part question.

Does anyone have experience of using SEODOC(www.instantposition.com/webtools.html) and if so, would you say it was worth the investment?

Are there other SEO "tools" that are better and that forum members would recommend when it comes to performing all the functions that SEODOC says it does (such as compression tools, ranking tools, keyword tools etc) or is, as I suspect, most of this useful information freely available on the web?

I'm been humming and hahing on this and would welcome some opinions from the experts.

Cheers Webnauts. Your post doesn't specifically answer my question about SEODOC and other paid tools but the links look as though they will be a useful resource.

You probably need to add dmoz to your website submission category don't you?

OK. Then lets go. I am sure you can find all tools you need for SEO and for free all over the web. But it is hard to find all on one site.

If you are willing to pay money for a tool, I would recommend you the desktop software WebCEO Professional with its ongoing updates.

About SEO Doc, if you are a SEO professional yourself, you can make up your mind if the tool is good for your needs. I tried it out and they improved a lot.

That's a concise and helpful answer, thanks again. Actually I had contemplated WebCEO as well but it had slipped off my radar. Thanks for the jog.

As pointed out above no one SEO tool can (or should) be able to help a website be more optimized. Instead check out a thread from SEOmoz.org called:

SEOmoz: Beginner's Guide to SEO

for some beginners help.

Cheers Webnauts. I've just spent a good deal of the morning reading through Rand's SEOmoz guide which is excellent stuff. Is that on your list? Glad you found me something to help fill the afternoon.

Thanks Jaan. And there was me wondering how I'd fill Friday morning...

Actually, I e-mailed Rand yesterday after I read his incredibly useful guide; just to compliment and thank him. I haven't had a reply, nor do I want one really, but I thought it didn't harm to acknowledge such useful and readable information. If a pointer to that particular site isn't a sticky on this forum somewhere (apart from on Webnauts' new list), maybe it should be.

Feel free to drum up reading matter for me for next week...

Paul
