If I move my site to a new server and have a new IP address will it affect my search engine ranking?
I read a post about this last week and can't find it any where. My hosting service is saying "no" but I recall strong evidence to suggest otherwise in the old post. Thanks for your input.

no, you shouldn't have any problem
you shouldn't even have any down-time. There might be a few flickers of it during the propogation, but nothing major. As long as youo have access to the new server before changing the dns nameservers |

Just make sure you have your pages posted at both IP addressess and when the DNS changeover takes place no one will notice it. When your new IP address is solid, take down your pages at the old IP address.
