Default Asking Customers for SEO Help

I currently ship out between 20 to 30 packages a day for our bathroom products. We sell almost exclusively on the web so our customers all come from PPC, SERP, or word of mouth.

We already include a postcard in each package asking for referral from friends.

I am considering adding another postcard in each package explaining the value of links and requesting anyone who participates on public forums for home remodeling, operates a website or blog, or has some online space to post a link to our site.

I know some people will think this is cheesy but I have found in 16 years of retail that most customers like to help and will be a maven if they can.

Is there anything about this plan that I should be concerned about from an IBL point of view?

Steve

Default Sounds unprofessional.

I know that clients may be willing to help, but that doesn't mean that you should ask them to help.

In my opinion, it's a bad idea. Do your own legwork, and let your clients simply enjoy your products. But that's just my two cents.

Personally, I think it's a tad cheesy and I agree also with what weslinda said.

However, if you decide to try it anyway, I would avoid doing it that way, via your packages.
It would be better and probably more reponsive, if you just included a small notation and html code in email correspondance, such as email invoices.

Don't directly ask them for help, but make sure that domain name is all over collateral materials, products, etc. The more they see it, the more they remember it, the more they will post it on their own, send an email to friend or tell someone about it.
