Question about an SEO service

Technorati has SEO as one of their top ten search topics today--guess Matt Cutts stole the show! But when I clicked on that search, I ended up seeing a sponsored link about these guys:

And, ADD that I am, I checked them out. They offer SEO services for yahoo! at $39.95/mo, and promise first page rankings. For $89.95/mo, they offer first page google rankings alongside yahoo. Thing is, I did a search on "be ranked number 1" and they weren't there at all. Nor did they show up for "search engine optimization" or for "page 1 rankings," a phrase that was quite common on their pages.

For the prices they are charging, it would be cheaper to hire them than it would to spend all this time on SEO myself; that's a bit less than two hours of my time they're charging per month. And they say that they don't charge you up front until there is proof that your site is on the first page. But something smells very fishy about this. Does anyone else have any thoughts about this company?
