Default Search Marketing Standard, New Issue

OK after my long weekend in Las Vegas for some free time with myself and couple family members I returned to see that I am now a mod at WPW, yeah! I look forward to helping make WPW a better place with my new status.

I also retuned to find the first issue of Search Marketing Standard in my snail box.

So did anyone else catch a copy of this? I am happy to see a magazine dedicated to everything SEO and SEM, but it sad when I read it and saw basically every article on PPC. Hardly anything on organic search engines issues or questions. Oh well it is a to least a start and look forward to improvements in the future.

I also got this and was very disappointed. Let's hope it improves in later issues.

First of all, welcome Jaan to our happy group of mods and yes I think you will bring something special to WPW. I read that too and I agree.

Congratulations Jaan!

Well deserved in my opinion.

Nope, haven't seen the mag yet.

I emailed Boris Mordkovich to see what the process is to submit more "organic" based articles. What does every think some good ones include?

Supplemental Index Issues
Big Daddy Failure
Google versus MSN versus Yahoo, an Organic Look

I would just like to see "up-to-date" issues instead of the same regurgitated issues we all know or have seen before.

Well said on all of the above. I would also like to see it said on the things to work on the big 3 as they are all different. Also the diffference between on page and off page factors on each of the big 3.

Jaan, I'm happy to see you as a mod now. You've been a huge help to me, and to many others. Whether you had a "title" or not, you're just the kind of person who makes forums so valuable.

Yes, I got a copy of the magazine too. I read it, immediately emailed them with my 2c (adjusted for inflation.) I got a nice but noncommittal reply.

I'm never impressed when a first effort is flat and lifeless. One's first effort should always be the one where you do your best to impress the heck out of your audience.

My opinion is that it is a basic regurgitation of what has been in forums, blogs and online articles for the last couple of years. I didn't see anything new or groundbreaking or even particularly interesting. I read the whole thing and didn't learn nearly as much as I learned today in 15 minutes on this forum. They did nothing to prove to me that their hard copy magazine is valuable, using their maiden printing which should have been exciting and full of new ideas.

I wasn't impressed. Who was?

Thanks Writer.

I got a response back and said they didnt have any room for new contributions until the winter print. Hopefully I can get something in.

I also hope that the summer/fall print will be more of a resource than this first one was.

Like I have said before I do commend the effort and hope it grows into something great.
