Any opinions on the best way to track whether our changes have made an improvement for us larger sites? With so many pages I have no idea whether any changes I do has made any effect and it's a real chore to go through thousands of pages with the Google site:domainame command.

I do not know, I have not read the article. I only noted that the article is centrally placed at the front page of Sitepoint and has got a top reader rating: 10. That is about all I know.

Jackson,
digitalpoint has a tool that will allow you to track the rankings of several hundred keywords. You'll need a Google API key though.

Another tool you can use to monitor ranking changes in Google, MSN and Yahoo is:
googlerankings.com ... for Google, you need the Google API key.

There are ranking tools that you can easily find on the internet. Some of these tools flood the search engines with too many queries in a short time, so you'll have to find one that simulates a broswer.
Try searching keywords like, "website management tools" That should be a good start! Dorian |

Perhaps the folloeing KW's will help you.
WSDL Web Services Definition Language. Using that technology you can use the Google API. There are a lot of pages with webservices, eg. XMethods. I can reccomend the book (especially chapter 17): Build Your Own ASP.NET Website Using C# & VB.NET by Zak Ruvalcaba. In a nutshell WSDL is a plattform independant technology based on distributed objects where you can use your language of choice, eg C# or VB.NET. |
