Default Google choosing your home page over more relevant pages

Hi everyone, there is something that has always plagued me and search engines (google especially) and I was wondering if any of you can help me with this.

Lets say I have the keyword "blue widgets" that I'm trying to rank highly for. I have this word 20 or so times mixed in an alpha listing of products. For example:

10 inch square blue widgets
12 inch round blue widgets
etc etc

However when I type this into google, my home page which has "blue widgets" in the title and the keyword 4 or 5 times on the page is displayed instead.

Is this because the search engines see this as keyword stuffing?

Is there a way to get the search engines to go to a specific page for the keyword that you want? If I were to create a page called "blue_widgets.htm" would the search engines stop using my home page and realize the relevance of this page for the keyword?

Thanks alot!

spen your home page will out rank your sub pages a lot of times in Google because your home page has many more IBLs pointing to it than your sub-page even if it is more relevant. Get more IBLs pointing to your sub-page and you will see it rise in the Google SERPs.
