Default Web stats packages - need a recommendation

Hello,
I'm looking for some advice on a good web stats package that uses a tracking script.

I have a customer who refuses to move from their lousy website host who offers no web stats.

Google Analytics would be perfect, but no invitation has come through.

My only option seems to be web stats that use tracking script.

I did some research and come up with this list:

http://www.statcounter.com
http://www.onestat.com
http://www.hitslink.com/
http://www.zorble.com/
http://www.websitetoolbox.com/
http://www.hitslog.com/
http://www.dynamicsitestats.com/
http://www.superstats.com
http://awstats.sourceforge.net/
http://www.addfreestats.com/
http://www.statsmachine.com/
http://www.stattracker.com
http://extremetracking.com/
http://www.clicktracks.com/
http://www.urchin.com - http://www.google.com/analytics/
http://www.sitestats.com
http://www.nettracker.com
http://www.opentracker.net

The website I want to put this on gets about 300 visitors per day and pageloads are about 1200 per day or 36000 per month.

What I need is info on visitors, referrals, search engine referrals, keywords and keywords by search engeine, and pages hit - pretty basic info. Other data would be a bonus but not critical. Retention of historical data is a necessity. Price is an issue of course - $300 per year would be about right.

I put in the tool from statcounter.com and the stats are fine, but the rolling log file drops the oldest data after the log is full, except for visitors. That's a severe limitation - no historical data stored for anything but visitors.

Please post back if you have any recommendations and experiences that would meet these requirements, and thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if this covers everything that you want, but I use URL Stats.

You may also find it useful to take a look at WebCEO -- see http://www.webceo.com/whatisnew.htm
I use it and I think quie a number of WPW members do.

Most good hosting companies at least supply a package similar to AWStats, which are pretty good.

Some hosting companies, such as GoDaddy do their own custom Stats such as TrafficFacts, which are pretty good too: http://webapp.trafficfacts.com/login.php#

I use www.netracker.com because i got fed up with net genesis, not sure of the the other ones listed, but i can recommend netracker because it is very comprehensive and you can produce very detailed reports, once you get your head round it

I use the pay for version of Statcounter - I like the sheer detail, the map location system, auto coolwhois etc etc. It means that while we are taking new enquiries we can actually see the enquirers search terms and SE. We use that as a sales tool 'ah, you found us on MSN when you searched xyz'

Yes, I like the data provided by statcounter.com. Do you have any tricks on how to collect any historical data from statcounter? I would like to keep this information over time, particularly because the products have seasonal fluctuations.
