Default Keyword confusion !!!!

How many times I can use a particular keyword in my web page. Say for example that two pages are optimized for one particular keyword. Say one content page C1 is having 800 words and frequency of the specific keyword is 24. Therefore, 3% is the keyword density for content page C1. Another content page C2 is having 500 words and frequency of the specific keyword for page C2 is 15. Therefore, 3% is the keyword density for C2 too. So which page is more relevant?

If I target five keywords then is it essential to have five different pages for each keyword and then optimize those pages for those particular keywords.

As many times as appropriate--think about your website's visitor and forget about writing for the search engines.

I actually stopped checking keyword density on my pages about 2-3 years ago. There's no need to check it anymore, just use your phrase in the title tag, in the meta keywords and description tag and a few times on the rest of the page.

I agree with bhartzer the website should be for the visitor the behind the scene stuff is enough to get you ranked.

Although I agree that pages, their content, etc. should be geared to the user / visitor, keyword density should be a consideration as part of the "final draft" process. As many of us write like we speak, it would be potentially easy to over saturate a particular KW in a page and hence do it damage in SEs and even turn-off or confuse the reader.

bhartzer brings up a very good point though. Using the term appropriately in a few key places will do just fine. But isn't that merely a shift in the paradigm? From keyword density to keyword placement?

So far as I know Keyword density has never been a ranking consideration at Google and suspect that many search engines follow Googles lead.

IMO Keyword density belongs to the same SEO era as hidden text and meta tag spamming.

Write your pages to sell your product or service with one or two keyphrases in mind and when you are done, read it aloud to make sure you have not overdone it.

Then use all the time you saved not worrying about keyword density to get anchor text links.

when we used the main keyword across every link in the category (making sure it makes sense) and does not confuse the user, we started to show more and more in Google. I think with google combining your links with your keywords make a huge difference..

Example: View our 3G Data Cards RHS Menu

Putting your keywords in your navigational links is always helpful. You have to remember that the anchor text boost in google is a good portion of the algo.

That's true. But what will happen if I put my targeted keywords here and there in all the pages? How google calculate the relevancy factors?

If google matches the search query used by the visitor with the content keywords then it is essential that we must place our keyword in our target page atleast once. But stuffing the page with the keywords will help me to increase the relevancy factor of my page. Here I am not excluding the concept of preparing high quality content for my visitors. I know few words like "free", "chep" these are the most used words in the internet world. Also I can use these words in my site page too strategically. So will it help me to increase my site ranking.
