Default Please have a look at - www.channelgroup.co.uk

One of our clients has 3 sites and is spending several thousand pounds for us to optimise/market them. The work I have done so far has tripled their page views, but their search engine positions are atrocious. Any help very greatfully received!

(all 3 sites are linked, the other 2 are:
www.channelphoto-media.co.uk
www.southwestsafes.co.uk)

Where did all the new traffic you provided come from?

The biggest thing they need right now is links. Google is showing 5 and 9 links for the sites respectively. Make sure you've done the rounds and submitted them to all the directories (many will be useless, but there are still a few gems).

Consider buying some text links. Be careful with this, though.

Add more content. They both have a good start with the FAQ page, and the dye article, but the more, the better. Build them both up with reviews, news, or tutorials. Maybe some related articles about home safety for the safe site, etc. Consider adding a blog for each, industry news and company news can be a great promotional tool when done correctly. In short, try to make the sites as interesting as possible for customers and general browsers alike; the general browsers may blog about the site (inbound link) or become customers later on.

I am now of the opinion that playing games and spending time on "SEO" gimmicks can be a huge waste of time, This time could be better spend building better websites; or in your case, making good websites better. Building great sites will provide content for the spiders and motivation for bloggers and other webmasters to link to your site.

Good luck.

Williamc - I take on board the gist of your message, but a question relating to SEO belongs in this forum, if he or she has the bottle to get paid for doing something that they are still learning themselves, then that I'm afraid is called 'Entreprenurial'!

I started working for a web design, hosting and marketing company last April. I had very little IT skills (I am an engineer) and no prior SEO/website marketing experience. I was taken on because I was keen to learn and picked up as much knowledge from the previous SEO technician before he moved on, and gleened as much info from this forum as possible. Just about every one of my clients sites have improved in the SERP's since I started, except for the 2 I have posted here, for which I am asking for help because I don't know where I have gone wrong. For those people posting about charging thousands and asking for 'free' advice, how do you earn your daily crust?

My impression was that williamc was being cute - it made me laugh!

I used to say that my value was not measured in how much I knew - but in how fast I could learn the next big thing. Knowing which questions to ask and then knowing how to implement what you learn, is why you can charge what you do.

We need smilies - Ok I'll do a report for the site, just one mind you: never knew that: meant LOL - learn something new everyday.:::::

CTABUK Edit - update - If you are hoping for good results for Lyson Continuous Ink Systems in your keyword tags, continuous has been misspelt, no big deal, these things happen. I've done a report so if you PM me your e-mail address I'll wing it over.

Although all 3 sites are owned by the same company, they all sell different things (obviously) do you think its detrimental to link them together, because of the different content - will Google penalise?

I always go by the theory that links are better than no links. But I could be wrong.

I find the problem with SEO is that basics are easy but keeping up with current trends are the bit thats hard.
