Default Desperately After SEO Advice

Hi guys,
Ive had the domain bridgesltd.co.uk for a few years now, but as of the last couple of years we're had a couple of new websites.

Lately, ive been desperatly trying to improve the ranking of the site in the search engines (msn/google/yahoo), but to no luck.

Ive submitted my site to Dmoz, as well as many other free directories as i could find.
IVe also registered the site with sitemaps which has told me the site is quite low ranked:

Ive introduced new keywords etc.

Ive tried using seo tools on other peoples site, and its all told me that the site is poorly ranked, but thats it.

So if anyone can offer any other information, help or tips i would be greatly appreciated.

If you'd like to visit the site http://www.bridgesltd.co.uk , does the site need more content (text?) ?

One other thing, im about to launch a new website on a new domain (aica.co.uk) i will of course link the two websites together.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Hi Adam

You have enough text on your website, but you have the top 2 sections of your website talking about your company. The actual content that really matters, (talking about what you do) is currently residing on about line 214. Not very prominent for your main content is it? Your text should be mentioned early on in the <body> tag to show its relvance. The little bit of text, you do have also needs adding to. For example, you have who you are and what you do, what makes you different from other similar companies?

I have been doing a bit of shuffling with your text and by just losing the blank lines and the inline scripting/stylesheets (mentioned later), you can get this down to about Line 161. A better rethink of your site's layout and this vital info can be even higher up on the page.

Although your site looks good there are just too many tables. This can be reduced down, I am sure. I assume this is a template? If so, read the small print you signed when you bought it. Are you permitted to adjust the pages in any way? I am not very in the know with templates, hence my treading carefully.

On the home page, your meta description is just odd. Use this tag to its full advantage to describe what your website is about (On other pages, use it to describe what that particular page is about). Try to incorporate your main keywords in this description, but don't stuff keywords in unnecessarily as this is frowned upon by the search engines. Also use some of your main keywords in the Title <title> tag (rather than just the company name and the page), but again don't overdo it.

Also your many script and style tags, are inline. it probably doesn't help that one of these scripts are duplicated (the urchintracker one). Take these out and make them external files, then just link to them. eg <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/mystylesheet.css" />. You will be amazed at how much room you save.

HTH. If you owuld like me to look into this any further, please feel free to PM or post on this thread.

Best regards,
