Default What is everyone using for keyword placement technique?

Hi All. I am curious what everyone is having more success with (or recommmends that I use) in how they place their keywords in the keyword meta tag.

For example, am I better off not duplicating a single keyword across the entire tag like this: '..content="used, sports, equipment, denver, boulder, colorado, snow, skis, shoes, trade, swap, find, search, looking, for"...'

or using them combined together in sensible phrases like this: '...content="used sports equipment, used skis, used snow skis, used snowshoes, trade skis, swap skis, search used skis, looking for skis, used skis Denver Colorado, used skis Boulder Colorado"...' etc. etc.?

Based on your recent experiences, what would you recommend for how I lay out my keywords?

Thanks so much for your time,
Alan

Default keywords or keyword phrases?

The general view is that meta keywords no longer count for much, if anything. However, I'm sure it's better to come up with complete phrases rather than single words.
For example, in my own case I don't see any sense in "looking, for, houses". No-one is going to search that way, are they? Instead they'll use the full phrase "looking for houses" in any search box.
Thus, your second choice seems to be a whole lot more advisable than the first one.

Some search engines do not consider the META keywords as important as other areas of your web site (Ofcourse, The Keyword tag suggests to the search engines which words you would like it to use when a query is performed to find your web site in search engines.)

When creating Meta Keywords Tag:

a)Leave out commas, or leave out spaces
b)List keywords in lower case
c)Do not use single keywors.
d)Do not repeat the same keyword more than 3 to 7 times
e)Keep the site focused by only using around one or two keyword phrases per web page.Other keyphrases we can distribute to other internal pages.
f)Some times We can also use misspelled keywords

Thanks,
SEO Specialist!!

seo specialist: I'm sure you don't mean what you say in point a). It would result in the following sort of (meaningless) thing:
used sports equipment used skis used snow skis
The whole point about commas is that they "separate what needs to be separated".
Sure, it's possible to leave out spaces between phrases:
used sports equipment, used skis, used snow skis
However, you cannot possibly intend to suggest that what you have in mind is the likes of
usedsportsequipmentusedskisusedsnowskis
or even
usedsportsequipment,usedskis,usedsnowskis,
can you?!!

Default Use H1 Tag

Hi!!

I recommend you to use the keywords correctly first and then juble the keywords.
For eg."Pencil', this is correctly spelled then u write pencal or pancil kind of.

Then use your most crucial keyword in <H1> tag.

Thanks everyone for their replies.

It's interesting how different the techniques of each individual are.

My concern with phrases was repeating certain words throughout the entire tag, such as the word "ski", which is used 8 times in this particular example, while no phrase is repeated at all.

Thanks again for your feedback, everyone.

If I do a Google search for the various keyword phrases you mention, the results are slightly different each time. This kind of suggests that you could leave your list as it is.
At the same time, I do suspect/feel that "search used skis" and "looking for skis" are serving no useful purpose. I have doubts that people are likely to punch either of them into the search box.
However, if you're using AdWords, there is an argument for using every conceivable possibility. As several gurus point out, it makes some sense to come up with every likely and even unlikely phrase. PPC would appear to be one area where you can safely spam things to your heart's content!

That may have been the case, but not anymore --- spammers have made sure that it has been devalued compared to what it was worth.
