Default Is this a good idea?

I'm committed to buidling up my PR over time we've started a healthy link exchange program, optimized our site the best we can and have submitted to many directories. I plan to keep doing all of the above but I recently came across this:

"Our experienced Yellow Pages Superhighway staff can submit your Web site to over 300,000 search engines, directories and link pages. Results guaranteed! Only 69 dollars! All credit cards accepted
Confirmation emailed within 48 business hours.
http://www.bestyellow.com"

Is this kind of thing a complete waste of money or will it help me get listed in some of the smaller more obscure directories?

Is that even worth my time (being listed in the smaller, more obscure directories)?

Thanks in advance any insight you can provide.

A total waste of time and money. The only real thing you'll get out of it is several hundred e-mails from the FAA people -- which is where most of the 300,000 placements of your site will go.

I'm glad I asked!

If there was one directory that you felt it *was* worth paying for - what would it be? Up until this point I've only submitted to free directories.

Is it really worth it to pay for submission?

Link exchange is a skam period, I wish I never let all the "color copier" and "viagra" sites link to me! ;)

Automated link submission isn't worth the paper it's printed on (and yes, I'm fully aware that automated link submission requires no paper.)

It's like everything else in the world...if you want to promote and do it right, get your arms a little dirty and do it by hand.

Use the link wsmeyer posted as a start. Also, if you put a link to your site in your forum signature, the engines will pick up on that link as they spider WPW. That's about as quick a way into the SEs as anything.

Thanks all for the tips!
