Looking for an explanation of this site: http://www.voip-products.net/PeterDrewVoiceovers.shtml
My site title is listed in the menu bar on the right and on various pages of what appears basically to be gibberish. Anyone in search engine land have an explanation? Is this kind of thing detrimental to my rankings in the SEs? Thanks for any insights. |

My only thought is that this is a gateway site, but normally they have a click here to enter banner on the top. we have something similar for one of our clients,
http://www.convert-a-phase.com. it works fairly well, but in my opinion it is kind of a sleezy way to get to the top. best of luck, -Charles Tollefsen |

Well, the webmaster should follow the golden rule of SEO.
"Build your site for your visitor, not the search engine" This page will keep the search engine happy, for a while, as long as no one reports it to google as spam. Or Google Spider recognizes it as spam. Its life will be short lived.

Thank you for the replies, gentlemen.
It may get the page to the top of the rankings, but was is it's purpose? As keyword-stuffed gibberish, is it designed to bring up the ranking of the actual site where, I presume, they sell VOIP products? Would you suggest I report the site as spam to Google. Its seems that they're using my site's name for some reason , a reason with which I'd rather not be associated. Any advice? Thanks, again. |

yup, you should file a spam report with the SE's and leave it at that. don't worry about it too much they will fade away on their own.
There are numerous websites out there that directly rip off entire pages from high ranking sites with one link at the bottom to the site the content is copied from, and all the keywords in the content linked back to their own website. This is happening to a client of mine. I just rewrote the whole page that had been copied, what the heck, took 1/2 hr. Doesn't apply to you, but just saying, its a waste trying to get these guys to stop doing what they are, if you stop one, 10 more will pop up. So don't bother, just file the spam reports and go back to working on your site. |

Thanks for the explanation, roam_dx. You've made me feel better about the situation. Considering all of the human potential being wasted on dubious activities, e.g. spam and computer viruses, it's really sad. Oh, well. It ain't gonna change anytime soon, right? I'll file a spam report with the Google and Yahoo! Thanks, again.

pdrew, anytime pal, I remember how violated I had felt when content/brand theft happened to me the first time 5-7 years back.
And I agree, it's a huge waste (spam, viruses, ip theft, copyright infringement)... but of their time and money, not yours, if you're the one doing the right things...karma ;) |
