Default Dmoz

First off the time of Dmz and human edited directories is fading fast. With backlogs of thousands of websites waiting review. I must say my persoanl experience with Dmoz was very mixed. I submitted a year old blog to dmoz and well hit me with a baseball bat i got a reply to edit the directory the very next day. Well great i was like hey im in. Well of course i applied to edit the directory i have knowledge about and where my site i submitted. Well dmoz doesn't have a problem with you adding your own sites as long as they are on the topic and arent spammed out. Well I go ahead and fix www.aegis.com they were listed had a mispelling in their description, i than approve my website. I deny one for getting 404's and i leave 1 other enque waiting further review. Well i log off and go about my day and log in later and see a editor ha removed my website with a note about a link i had out up like 6 months before that i had forgotten about, when i tried to sell the site. So i go remove the link and leave a note letting them know the link was removed and the site was reapproved. Well the editor i guess didnt like that and removed my editing privelages. It boils down to this anyway. Weight of a link from a directory is not that big a deal anyway. Now get a link from cnn abc on a news article front page of one of those sites. Those are the links that matter. A link from dmoz is nice3 to have but definately not worth the hype some lead you onto believe. There are 100's of directories. Just start going down the list. i use my brothers directory of directories to start. Heck I can rank top 10 for my keyword on yahoo and msn...........currently only yahoo right now....without wasting my time begging dmoz for a what pr5 link.........please.

I guess the truth always get in the way of a good story....

It looks as though your subsequent actions have vindicated DMOZ's decision to remove you.

I am bound by privacy issues as to internal DMOZ business, but anyone who is an editor can check the notes associated with your very brief editing history and that of your site. Look what has happened to it now: http://www.myhivstory.com/

the reason i have moved the site was because for some reason my google ads would not appear on the site. only 1 ad block out of 3 would appear on the page and after months of google ignoring me i decided to use my original blog at blogger, it was not alot but the difference was about 100 bucks a month less i was making with only 1 ad unit showing up

I'm a little unclear on why you started this thread? You got into DMOZ, you tried to manipulate the system, you got found out, and kicked out. What are you trying to accomplish here by bringing it to our attention?

If it was me, I'd try to learn from the experience and then move on.

i dont understand what you mean manipulate the system? i was just saying i applied to be a editor for a category i submitted my website to. i was approved and did everything i was suppose to. There was only 1 website that had not been approved and was waiting in queue..........i appoved my site.........which in the rules is allowed.....the meta editor or whatever she was removed the listing because of a off page link i set up at some site to sell my website. I forgot the link was even there was like 4 months old. So i went and removed the link and and than reapproved my website with a note saying the link was removed and i reapproved the website. Dmoz is very clicky..............my brother im sure most have heard of ........aaron wall.......already told me of several meta editorsthat would go off their category just to remove his link.

"clique" not "click"

a clique is a close-knit group of people who don't want anyone else to join in.

a click is a sound or an action.

Sorry, my inner editor couldn't resist.
