so few people believe there is life beyond Google & DMOZ ...
Note on submitting to directories: it can't be said often enough - do your best to write guidelines-compliant submittals. That's the best way to get a listing added in a timely way.
As an editor in many good directories, I admit to passing over submittals that clearly weren't even close to meeting the basic guidelines. I review the ones that look like the submitter made an effort. And I frequently decline those that are so far offbase it's clear the submitter didn't bother to read the guidelines.
It is painfully obvious when a submitter has not taken the time to try to write a decent listing. And since many of the directories do have generally similar guidelines as far as titles and descriptions, there is no excuse for a frequent submitter to NOT try to learn how to do it at least close to correctly.
So the kind of person who writes titles full of keywords, and fills their descriptions with promotional wording, shouldn't waste their time (and editors' time) by submitting. That time should be spent learning basic guidelines compliance - it will pay off.
OK I'm off the soapbox now :-)
