Default Forwarded URL

I have a ecommerce site that was built with an online builder. The company that previously owned the service held my domain name. The new company that bought it did not so I had to have it held by Godaddy and forward it to the location of my site. My rankings and links have suffered and I am not sure if that is why. By forwarding did this hurt me? Should I switch to the url used by the online builder company? I also have it masked is this bad?

Thanks
Blayne

I get this awful cringe whenever I see GoDaddy and redirect mentioned in the same sentence.

A few months ago a large number of sites hosted at GoDaddy got dropped from Google due to tech probs at GoDaddy ... thats been resolved.

However, I do recall hearing around that time that the redirects that GoDaddy were doing for a whole lot of clients were 302's and not the Google recommended 301. I am not 100% sure of my facts here, but suggest you check with GoDaddy to make sure it is a 301 redirect.

Thank you for your response I will check with Godaddy. I still wonder whether it would be better to just use the domain given by the service than having a redirect. The redirect name is qsiwholesale.com while the name at the cart service is wholesalesilver.safeshopper.com This would mess up the links but for some reason google does not find them anyway. Alexa shows 15 links to the site while google is showing 1. This is strange since google is used for Alexas link finder.
