will directory submission help or should avoid that at the moment..

I would definitely submit to the appropriate categories in the main directories, such as Yahoo!, DMOZ, JoeAnt, GoGuides, etc.

Overall, you want a good mix of sites linking to you, including directories.

but... as many as possible right? I mean... real search engines and real directories.

I used the sticky in this forum to submit to many and today used IBP 8.1 to spend some time submiting to directories and I must have submited to well more than 200.
