Default This is what to aim for

Greetings, doing my reports turns up all sorts of results, then just by chance you find the near perfect results site.
This is what to aim for, the (in my humble opinion)ultimate high results pages. www.scottish-heirloom.com
Using the keyword 'Scottish Jewelry' I tracked this site around the globe. Based in New Zealand makes it, to my mind, the perfect site, it has more page 1 results than any I have seen, and that discounts the 'quirky ones'with one off search terms. I ask you to raise your glasses to this site and hopefully I will see many more like it. Bloody well done. My admiration and regards David

You are right on David. That is a nice site, but they have room for improvement like any other site:

In the science of Site Review, I must note that almost all sites, probably 99% have HTML code errors. One I just reviewed today had over 700 code errors on the home page alone!!!

This home page has only 8 code errors that should be easy to fix.
Here are the tallies for some of the others:

http://www.scottish-heirloom.com/sco...ata/index.html - 15 Code errors
http://www.scottish-heirloom.com/sco...ngs/index.html - 9 Code errors
http://www.scottish-heirloom.com/sco...lan-crest.html - 13 Code Errors

Without reviewing the rest, the site does look fairly clean, is easy to navigate, and provides textural linking throughout as suggested at the GOOGLE Webmaster’s Site.

GOOGLE loves both HTML and XML sitemaps and openly declares so.

Of course it is up to the individual Site owners and webmasters whether they see fit to subscribe to the GOOGLE XML Sitemap program or not, but webmasters that have are reporting rave reviews.

There is also an issue with the keyword and keyphrase optimization. Below I have posted the top 5, 1,2 and 3 word keyphrases the site is currently optimized for. The single keywords are accompanied by their associated usage density percentages:

Top 5 Single keywords:

Scottish; 53x 23.45 %
Jewelry; 29x 12.83 %
Heirloom; 19x 8.41 %
crest 13x 5.75 %
celtic 11x 4.87 %

Top 5 Two Word Keyphrases:

scottish heirloom
heirloom jewelry
celtic jewelry
jewelry scottish
scottish clan

Top 5 Three Word Keyphrases:

scottish heirloom jewelry
scottish heirloom company
heirloom jewelry scottish
scottish crest jewelry 3 682
heirloom jewelry scotland

The over extension of the term “Scottish” used 53x can be reduced in the body adcopy to bring things in better alignment. IMO – Shoot for around 12 or 13%.

They also have a custom 404 error page which is nice in that it captures the “lost”.

Thanks for bringing this site to our attention. It is obviously well presented and managed.

Ken

With top 5 positions on every major SE on the planet, your help in getting them in higher is one that I will watch with great interest.

I don't know that I can or have helped at all, but it surely doesn't hurt to clean up the remnant code errors.

IMO - The verdict is still out on GOOGLE XML Sitemaps.

Optimal keyword densities do seem to vary somewhat between the SEs. The prevailing percentage for "Scottish" does seem a bit high though.

There is no doubt about it being a very nice site.

Better than most! Hat's off to a good managemnent team and webmaster there.

I enjoy showcasing an occasional site that deserves it too. Good call!

That's an awesome site and phenomenal results! Thanks for sharing ctabuk!

I love the top header graphic ... really pulls you into the ambience of the site, theme and country.

I'd say what's somewhat more impressive, that you touched on a bit, is that this Scottish site is done by an Aucklander :)

The DMOZ listing doesn't hurt one bit either.

Do you know if they have a Froogle site?

If you know the webmaster, please pass along Heres1 and Sitespromoter info to them ... I'd be happy to list them and give them another leg-up in IBLs; better stated, I'd be honored to link to them as a testament of their efforts.

Sure David:

The first to come to mind that is New Zealand specific is:

New Zealand Forum

The Webmaster could certainly get some geo-specific targeting done this way - if I find any others, I'll let you/him know.

I fully agree green! It pains me to place Google AdSense ads on my sites due to their warnings. Right now I'm going through the WordPress code and fixing issues that have caused 13 (/me has heart attack) warnings on the GibThis.com Technology Blog.

As for the site in question, it's not bad - no errors, but 16 warnings:

line 16 column 1 - Warning: <body> proprietary attribute "marginwidth"
line 17 column 1 - Warning: <table> proprietary attribute "valign"
line 37 column 3 - Warning: <td> proprietary attribute "background"
line 40 column 1 - Warning: <input> proprietary attribute "border"
line 50 column 5 - Warning: <td> proprietary attribute "background"
line 106 column 5 - Warning: <td> proprietary attribute "background"
line 122 column 2 - Warning: <form> lacks "action" attribute
line 123 column 1 - Warning: <textarea> proprietary attribute "wrap"
line 50 column 143 - Warning: trimming empty

line 64 column 59 - Warning: trimming empty

line 70 column 26 - Warning: trimming empty

line 75 column 32 - Warning: trimming empty

line 81 column 33 - Warning: trimming empty

Hey, this is mildly OT but are these errors in the Wordpress engine or in the template you've got going? I bet the devs over at http://www.wordpress.org/ would be delighted to hear about any HTML problems.

I run a Wordpress blog too- still using version 1.2.1 and my only warnings (at the moment) are from the dratted Google Adsense.

Well yes, I was a bit broad in my statement. I am fairly positive it's in the template I am using. My primary issue is when using the [more] tags. It always places the tags in this order:

<a></p></a>
