Default How does Google,Yahoo decide which country your site is from

You know when you click on Google, Yahoo etc and just select to restrict the results to the country you are in, ie in my case uk. How does Google work out where you site is from, as I have noticed that when I select UK only sites I get .com and .co.uk results.

Is there somewhere that you can tell the search engines that you are a uk site even if you are a .com?

Regards

Mark

Default Yes.

Yes. IP address, company address listed on all pages, and domain extension are all used, so the more of those you get aligned with what you want to do the better off you'll be in the country specific searches.

Brian.
