Default Dissapeared from google

I have been ranking No 1 on Yahoo MSN and on the first page of google for a long time. Then I dropped to 30+ on google a few months back. I have been trying to SEO for google but to no result. I recently noticed Google indexed more of my site than ever before and now I have dropped to 141 and the cached page is an old version of my site.

Has anyone any suggestions on how I can improve my SEO for google. I am lost!

Thank you in advance
Somjai

Default Wow...

Wow... I can't stand to try reading that site. All the blinking text drives me nutz. Google is doing people a favor not subjecting them to your site at the moment. Why do you have most of your text blinking? Please, stop the blinking.

How long has this site been up? I see the domain was created in October of last year, so not all that long ago. 26 links in Google, 182 in Yahoo - that's not all that many. Links are the best way to optimize for Google - links from on-topic sites and directories with your keywords as the anchor text.

Dear Brian
We don't have any blinking text on our site it is to do with your browser possibly FireFox. I have tried to find out how to overcome this, but no success as yet.

We changed our domain name last year, but the site has been around for about 5 years and has always enjoyed first page rankings on all the engines for our search term it is just in the last week or so we have dropped to 143 in Google.

Just to add about the links. About 40% of the results on the first 2 pages of Google are links to our website from others. In the 3rd and 4th pages the rate drops to 30%, so I feel we have a good show for the amount of links.

We do also concentrate on quality content and probably offer the most info on the topic of surfing in Thailand available on the net.

Brian,

I am using IE and there is no "blinking text". What browser are you using?

The CSS file has several "blink" commands that don't translate to IE:

On top of that the CSS file is not valid CSS with 1 error and numerous font family warnings.

Default FF

Yes, it is firefox. I also tried Netscape and got the same, as well as Opera and Mozilla. It doesn't blink in IE or any of the IE rendered browsers that I tested. (Yes, I have a lot of browsers, but it's all in MS Virtual PC in different OS's for testing).

When the site isn't blinking and giving me seizures, it's not bad. Sorry that I overreacted. It was just really giving me a fit trying to read it and understand what your site was about and seeing what could be done to improve rankings.

I still think that links are going to be one of your most important additions. Many of the sites you're competing with are PR6, you show PR3. While PR isn't everything, it certainly tells me that your competition is getting more links to their site than what you have. The site showing #1 has 2660 in Yahoo. Others on the first page have even more links. Start submitting to all the directories and surf information and Thialand information sites you can find. Besides improving rankings, you could also get a lot of click-through traffic if you choose relevant sites to get links from.

Thank you very much for your help!! I will fix the CSS issue imediately. I am sure this has explained the increase in under 30 second visits to our site.

I will definitely start working on more links.

One last question though, seeing that we have always been on top for the few links we have, does this mean that our content has been the thing that keeps us at the top.

and so....

Google gives much more weighting to links and little to content.

Yahoo and MSN seem to give more weight to content rather than links.

Are these fair statements?

Default more puzzled

"While PR isn't everything, it certainly tells me that your competition is getting more links to their site than what you have."

Another thing that I have noticed is that the sixth listing on the first page for surfing thailand is our bulletin board which only has a few links mainly from our website.

It has a lot of info about surfing thailand but no inbound links. Why is it on the first page and our main websuite has been dropped to 143.

I don't think our site wins any design awards or anything but it puzzles me why after all these years of dominating the search engines for our niche. Google has now decided that we don't rate, while the other engines still give us No 1 position.

Have we been penalised by google or something?
