Default Keyword help please!!

I am just soooo new to this!! Having had my site SEO'd just after I went live, I updated my Home Page (as you do). What happens about the keywords that I originally had which may no longer be there as a result of the update?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Default If you eliminated them...

If you eliminated the words that you optimized for, then you probably won't rank for them any longer. Google does weigh incoming anchor text heavily, but the other engines are going to want to see those words / phrases on the page to give you a ranking for them.

Brian.

You no longer have a keyword or description meta. You're going to need to add these either through the peope who 'SEO'd' your site or online keyword extractor or through your own methods. Either way it would be a good idea to get these included in your site.

Thanks Brian, I think I'll play safe & see about re-optimizing it. Also, in my quest for linkpartners I'm coming across loads of other sites that are probably way down the Search Engine's lists yet deserve far more recognition. This then makes me wonder whether the Search Engine positions deserve the importance they currently hold? Should we take our ranking so seriously or are we better off concentrating our efforts on just getting our sites known & taking more notice of the volume of customers/members with our Search Engine positions as a bonus? While I realise they obviously help to get you noticed you still need to market your site through advertising, links etc anyway.

Thanks Roban. I did have someone SEO it for me but I'd like to have a go myself too so was intrigued with the keyword extractor you mentioned. Can you recommend any?
