Default Help I Keep Getting Google Error

Hello to all,
I have been trying to do a search on Google and keep getting this message:
"but we can't process your request right now. A computer virus or spyware application is sending us automated requests, and it appears that your computer or network has been infected.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your computer is free of viruses and other spurious software.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google"

I have Norton running and I don't see anything. Does anyone know what's going on???? Please let me know..

Thanks

Maureen C.

Most likely your IP address has been hitting the Google servers too hard or too often.

In most cases, if you use some sort of automated tool to continually search at Google they will ban your IP address.

You probably don't have any spyware on your PC, Google is telling you that you've been accessing them too often.

or that somebody else has...

What browser are you using and are you using a version of the Google toolbar? Some people have been reporting errors with the toolbar and Firefox, although others aren't having a problem at all.

It works fine now. I use Internet Explorer. No one else uses my pc, and I just do google seaches by hand. About 20 at most per day. So I do not understand why I would be getting that message.

Thank you for answering

From the other reports I've seen about intermittent problems with Google and similar error messages, one of the things that seems to trigger it is certain queries such as the automatic queries generated bhy the Santy worms last Christmas (seacrhing for a particular type of forum software.

Other than that, I wonder if at times Google itself isn't under a quasi-DDoS attack.

I do have the Alexa, why I don't know. I guess just to look good to people who use it. But my Norton seams fine. I do everything the old fashion way. No Black hat tricks. Unless Front Page is doing something crazy??

Thanks again
