.txt Files

I am starting to see more .txt files ranked by google.

The one txt file I found had no links just plain text, how is this going to help your rankings?

It isn't necessarily on the site for rankings -- it may be for a client or visitor, or it may be a snippet for the use of the designer or webmaster (I have a few of those on my site so I don't lose them).

If it's on your site and not disallowed in robots.txt, Google will index it.
